Catalogue of ExoSudan

Sortable and filterable catalogue of the exoplanets discovered so far.

Query Syntax Help:

  • Use AND, OR, NOT for logical operations
  • Use parentheses () for grouping
  • Use quotes for exact phrase matching
  • Examples:
    • mass:mjup > 2 AND period:day < 10
    • "hot jupiter" AND radius:rearth > 10
    • (mass:mjup < 1 OR radius:rearth < 2) AND year > 2015

Criteria for Inclusion in the Catalogue

Physical Criteria

  • Basic criterion: mass limit of 60 Jupiter mass.
  • Former limits were 13 Jupiter mass (deuterium burning limit) and 30 Jupiter mass (formation scenarios).
  • Mass-density-radius distribution shows a clear difference between giant planets and stars at 60 Jupiter mass (Hatzes & Rauer, 2015).
  • We allow for a 1 sigma uncertainty, choosing 60 Mjup + 1 sigma as an upper mass limit.
  • Planets with masses up to 60 Mjup + 1 sigma are included.

Confidence Criteria

Included planet detections are:

  • Published or submitted to professional journals
  • Announced by professional astronomers in professional conferences

Categories

There are 4 categories of planets:

  • Confirmed
  • Candidate
  • Retracted
  • Controversial

A planet is considered as Confirmed if it is claimed unambiguously in an accepted paper or a professional conference.
